| IRIE JAMBOREE? [09.09.08] |

The Roy Wilkins park was anything but irie, once we arrived outside the venue. Our team arrived quasi-late, at about 6p.m. The VIP/backstage entrance was haphazard. There was a line that extended so far back, it resembled that of the general admission. Upon later investigation, I realized that patrons had no idea where neither VIP was nor, general admission. Needless, to say many that came out in an irie mood, quickly relegated to a state of frustration, when they discovered that they had waited in vain, and would be forced to join yet another long line.
Once we entered the park, however, things quickly changed for the better. we realized, Reggae great Coco Tea was about to hit the stage. Coco Tea quickly wowed the Jamboree fans. He demonstrated tact and experience as he took an easy pace, which flowed nicely into his closing, timely track, “Obama”.
The show was filled with good performances. Sizzla donned the stage in a sleek, black and white outfit completed with a black satin tie. His deliberate calm-natured approach to the performance worked well. Fans reacted graciously to his medley of hits.
The noteworthy Dwayne Stephenson, opened up for Tarrus Riley's set. Stephenson did a spectacular job of introducing himself to the Jamboree audience. For a first time performer on the jamboree stage, Stephenson showed off expertise in his craft and a certain honesty in his music. The “Royal” Tarrus Riley, ran a tight set. After Riley announced that he wanted a “Black President”, the park went into pandemonium. By the time he slipped into “She's Royal”, he had patrons mesmerized, a staple occurrence along his US based tour .
Both Riley and Stephenson will continue their tour together which started off in Canada, runs through the Midwest, and culminates in Boston, Massachusetts on September 17th, 2008. In Boston, the pair will be joined by popular ZIP FM “ZJ” Nikki Z.

Seven months ago Britney Spears was in the spotlight for all the drama in her life, but on Sunday night she commanded the spotlight for all the right reasons - her music. Spears walked away with three coveted MTV Video Music Awards (Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video Of The Year) for the song "Piece of Me".
"Piece of Me" which is the second single from Spears' "Blackout" album was officially remixed by Jamaican reggae legends Sly & Robbie and features the talented Dancehall-Soul songstress Cherine Anderson.
In an article published in the Jamaican Gleaner in March of 2008, singer Cherine Anderson said that her contribution to the reggae remix of "Piece Of Me" was "about giving support to another sister in music." According to one of the song's producers, Sly Dunbar " I am really glad to see that Britney win for "Piece Of Me," I loved working on that song and the video was really wicked."
